Living on 18k a month

Living on 18k a month

Postby Big Vern » Thu Apr 18, 2013 12:56 am

Is it possible to live in Taiwan on 18,000NTD a month? I am considering becoming a full time student and will receive a stipend of 18k.However, I do have a few requirements:

1) I don't want to live in shared accommodation. Too old for that :) .
2) I'm planning to study in Taipei, so will require somewhere close to an MRT station for convenience.
3) I like open spaces, so somewhere near a park would be best.

I've got my eye on Da'an district as it seems to cover all bases.

I am prepared to borrow a smallish amount of money as I'm confident that upon completion of my Ph.D in Gender Studies the Taiwanese government will take me on as a consultant on a substantial salary.

Any advice?

Yah, 18k is more that an entire extended family of Taiwan prols live on for a month. You should be golden. Why I made that much when I first came to Taiwan ten thousand years ago. All the girls were polishing my knob for it.
