You are basing your assumptions on biased sources, the apple daily (clearly racist) and the policeman in question. I don't know the DUI guy here, he clearly deserves some punishment, but you don't know all the details of the case just like me , so Id say hold your horses until you find out more. The guy was a DUI on a scooter and I don't see any real evidence that he attacked the cop, so getting shot seems to have been an extreme move. What it actually looks like to me is that the cop got excited and trigger happy and the guy that was shot may have a case for compensation. The cop does not seem to have been attacked or assaulted.
It's rare in Taiwan for cops to shoot 'runners' so it needs to be investigated. The lack of furore in the usual foreigner bashing media tells its own tale.
As others have mentioned we need more details from all sides.
And you, sir, are using exactly the same tactic as you did in the Zain Dean thread and with the same intended purpose.
I have more than enough "details" of this case to make up my own mind about it. What you accept as evidence, from your biased point of view, and what I accept as such are clearly different. Minimize, minimize, minimize. Makes you look good to your friends, doesn't it (and I know who those friends are)?
Please don't try to tell me about local media sources. I work in the translation industry and I am more than able to read local sources critically (can you say the same?). The report called him "fat" and "foreigner." Maybe a tad sensational. But racist? Hardly. But don't that let that stop you from your distraction attempt.
He deserves "some punishment?" I'd say severe. That he led police on a high-speed chase in that sort of state, and for so long, justifies the force used against him, attack or no attack (and I believe the former to be FAR more likely). Keep on trying to defend the indefensible.
Well this case didnt even make it to the English newspapers. A non event really.
