SPAM wrote:What is truly disturbing is the way this guy's associates are trying to minimize what he's done. Moral bankruptcy par excellence! This guy rode drunk, took police on a high-speed chase that endangered the public and then fought with police. I don't want to hear about how he's such a nice guy and a good friend. Don't make me puke. This guy displayed the worst kind of criminal behaviour and showed total disregard for the safety of others. He deserves condemnation, not praise.

REPLICANT wrote:Tony why is it that you have so many expat friends into drugs, killers on the lam who flee jail time, not once but twice, scam artists who sell their passports to convicted criminals so they can avoid jail, alcoholics and shysters who rip off people in TV streaming scams. Can't you choose to associate with better people? After all you are a self proclaimed community leader right?

I make no excuses for my friend's behaviour on Saturday night. But he is my friend, a good one, so I'm going to be in his corner for the duration. His friends will have a meeting tomorrow night at 7:30 to talk about his situation. If you're one of them, please feel free to PM me for details.

It really sucks for a genuinely good guy like this to get himself into this kind of trouble. I'll wait for more details before judging him. A really good friend to those who know him. He has flaws but none of us are perfect.

Needless to say if it had been a Taiwanese being chased (as happens every single night without gunfire) there would have been no shooting, as of course the police would be looking at a lawsuit the size of a very big thing.
Taiwan really is descending into the Philippines/Thailand level of public order. Shooting people they can't arrest lawfully. Ho hum.
