I HEREBY challenge every Formosan who has a friend or acquintance that is regularly abusing drugs to get them to take ALL their drugs at the same time and get rid of them.

It's the kind of symbolic act that can really dramtically kick start an effort to get clean, no matter how hard it is. Its a sure fired way to stop

TAICHUNG, Taiwan -- A Canadian man was arrested yesterday for drug-trafficking and growing marijuana in his residence in Taichung.

The man, identified only as Steven, was caught by the police at his lodging with several marijuana plants in it. The police also ferreted out 57 grams of the drugs and more than 3500 hemp seeds.

The law enforcement found out that the seeds were sent by his relatives and friends from overseas and sometimes carried by himself when entering Taiwan. Steven used special equipment to grow the cannabis including plates, potting soil and lighting devices and sold his harvest through drug trafficking channel to make profits.

According to police's investigation, Steven has two jobs during the day including giving lectures at a golf club and teaching English in a school.

〔記者楊政郡、吳為恭／綜合報導〕外籍兒童美語老師一起種大麻、吸大麻？南非籍男子QUINTES涉嫌勾結台籍人士種大麻，加工烘焙後，在夜店出售給其他外籍人士牟利，昨被台中檢警查獲，帶回2台籍及5名外籍人士。

檢警指出，36歲的QUINTES是鹿港鎮史丹佛英語補習班老師，被捕的另4名外籍人士中，還包括RAYMOND（南非籍，彰化市何嘉仁美語補習班老師）、CULBERT JEFFERY TJ（加拿大籍，布朗理化英文補習班）2人，涉案外師的補習班昨天都沒有接電話，警方還在清查是否有其他外師涉案。

檢警指出，國內大麻屬於二級管制毒品，來台已3、4年的南非籍QUINTES，涉嫌勾結趙姓台籍人士種植大麻，提煉烘焙後，拿到中部地區外籍人士經常聚集的夜店販售牟利，過去曾有外籍人士自國外攜帶大麻闖關，但在台灣自己栽種倒是首見。

台中地檢署1個多月前接獲線報，經佈線昨出動吳錦龍等6名檢察官，指揮海巡署岸巡總隊、刑事局、台中市刑警大隊等單位，同步搜索台中縣、彰化縣多處，在彰化縣鹿港鎮萬壽路某大樓QUINTES租住處，查獲以盆栽方式栽種的大麻215株，還有大麻花1100公克（每公克市價約400元）、大麻種子1000顆。

檢警發現QUINTES是這批外籍人士的首謀，並拿貨到夜店販售給其他外籍人士，昨日逮捕3名外師，又帶回1男1女外籍人士及2名台籍人士，正深入調查毒品來源及流向。

In my opinion, it is these charged people that should have thought about how their actions negatively impact people. Another person mentioned I'm laughing at the misfortune. In reality, I'm not. These people ruin the image of overseas expats. A recent article in the Globe and Mail mentioned that 52,000 Canadians live in Taiwan, and I'm sure most of these are hardworking, law abiding, and cultural ambassadors.

The ones that break the law deserve some ribbing for their stupidity exactly because they make every one else suffer. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one. Get used to it.

It's also interesting that the kangaroo court is stacked with worthless dweebs that have done nothing more than dribble the miserable details of their pathetic existence on a website frequented by Taiwan's most boring.

Now if this was an expat forum of any real merit, questions such as the shocking reporting in the English media - 100kgs down to little more than a fun night's worth of coke for one person (and how the fuck does that make one a drug dealer?) might raise an intelligent eyelid. Aside from some very rare exceptions, this thread is marked by a complete lack of any intelligent thought, or any consideration about the rights of foreigners in Taiwan, let alone the stupidly draconian drug laws. instead we have a load of predictably sanctimonious bullshit.

It seems you are one of the crims so easily upset about Taiwan.

The Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver said that medical tests required for a work permit do not cover marijuana and other substance abuse.

A Teco official said that applicants are only required to declare that they do not use illegal drugs.

WHat a mistake that is they should do like Japan and have compulsory testing. And random testing during your stay.

This is a good read abour Mr Forand. Inmate 6071 at Taipei Prison's drug treatment unit is a 29-year-old English teacher from Port Moody who's making use of the long days before his sentencing by learning Mandarin. It's hard to imagine just how much Mathieu James Forand must miss his friends, his family and his former life.

Of course there's a good bit about Stewart Glen also known as Toe save and Popfly and adflob sales and many other smurf names on Taiwanho and Forumosa.
Damn after this is out he may even sign up here who knows. Actually I think he was the most banned poster on ever. Its no wonder after some of the things expats do in Taiwan that the locals hold some of the opinions they do.
