I've decided to share this with my fellow Formumosans. I felt it would be best to share this with the "Home Team" since I have been living in Formosa for almost 30 years. For almost two years now I've struggled with finding an identity here in Forumosa after a series of life altering occurrences and two failed love affairs, loss of my health, a crappy court case and financial problems. I've recently decided to abandon my dreams of becoming a security expert for the executive security company Xe (formerly known as Blackwater). It was therapeutic. The training was great. The long runs in the jungles, the distance hikes in boots and pack. Throwing knives at trees, the blowgun hunting (sorry little starlings and doves!) Learning to live off the land. I lost weight, got my health back and became a successful over 40 surfer. I learned a lot about the world and myself.
The Krag Maga lessons taught me how to kick ass effectively. And to kick someones ass while screaming at them in Hebrew. How fucking cool is that!

I have friends in Taiwan who will read this who drink too much, who drink and drive. Family men who are just pushing the envelope towards the short edge of the table. And then all the others on the periphery who I "know" via my friends.

I like a good beer once in a while, but with my meds, I can't drink much at all anymore. I try to not miss it, but my brain is sometimes just as evil as Iron Mike's. So, I look at how my son will become and that tends to get me back on track

When he came here first time, which happened on August 14, 1995(very late afternoon), he first lived in a few hostels for backpackers teaching illegally, of which there were a few back then. Right, there they taught him invaluable tricks, such as how to pick up girls, and dump them again fast, how to ride around on a scooter without papers and not get into trouble, how to teach English illegally etc.

The He-man wound up living in a flat, where there was pot galore, always condoms available, and with music played to 4am. OK, his mandarin classes started at 8, so that pissed him off but still.

This isn't the first time I've tried fleeing from the police. I learned counter steering from a California Highway patrolman at a court ordered driving school after getting busted in a highspeed chase on my 500cc Honda Interceptor. Back home I was "chased" by two cars and a helicopter. Hard to out run a helicopter on a 1984 500cc Honda Intercepter. I pulled over and waited for the cops they were so happy they "caught" me wishing only that I had gone on the freeway for a real high speed chase. Also had a police helicopter pilot in So Cal who busted me for reckless driving crashed into another police heli two weeks before my court date. Both pilots killed. I got a few of my charges dropped because he couldn't testify but still had a fine, time served and probation. Those suggesting the cops should have used mace or pepper spray, can't use mace on a windy day or when it's raining. Mace won't really deter a drunk violent person. I've got a mace certification and was shown what to do.

Somehow I have to create a tourist attraction from all of this bad driving. My bad language to the police.. well.. I think when people are shooting at you, you have earned the right to call them what ever the fuck you want. I was Angry, dumb and fast. They're a bad combination. The Taiwanese police need "POLICING SKILLS" not bigger bikes. Just buy them some better tea to drink at the station and they'll forget about all this nonsense. This is a semi-lawless state and you are responsible for yourself. No one should be able to own a gun, except for me."



If I had been carrying in that chase I would have shot that cop. I wouldn't have panicked. I would have shot him like I've been trained to do.
But the only thing I was packing was fear. I just run until I was caught. They might deport me but hell that's half the adventure.
You're living in the wrong country if you are expecting to be treated fairly. Years ago when visa laws were less established this island was thriving with backpackers and weirdos. It's funny that most people fail the driving test here on the section where you have to ride in a straight line. It's unfair actually to expect Taiwanese people to move in a straight line. In any sense. I have no idea how that cop caught me. To cover my costs I'm selling graveyard dirt-$1000NT per bottle not from a grave. $1500 from a specific grave and brick dust at $250 a bottle. All from my chase. This thread should be titled "Why the Taiwanese Can't Drive or Enforce Driving Laws. I've noticed that as a foreigner person in Asia you become a magnet for crazy people.

I know how to come out of court a free mane, Red Envelopes-they make the Taiwanese universe move. You can get away with anything as long as you hand out hong baos and kneel on the floor and touch your forehead to the ground. Could have gone very bady for me, but Maoman and JimiP came to bat for me and helped me out and smoothed things over. I was repentant and knew I had done wrong, but the only difference was I wasn't plastered all over Apple Daily and the forums. It's good to have real friends who will take care of you no matter what and help you learn from your fuck ups. They never agreed with what I did, but they did stick by me. It's at times like that when you know who your true friends are.
No one is saying what he did was right (least of all the guy himself!), but people seem to be taking real issue with his friends sticking by him.

Well next time do a runner if you want to be in the news. Why is it that Jimip and Maoman know so many expats who fuck themselves up all the time. They seem to know all the people who either kill themselves, are drug addicts, alkies, killers on the lam or commit suicide by booze. Fucked if I want to hang around people like that. John has bragged to everyone he meets about his escapades from the Police, or being deported from other countries. His being shot comes as no great surprise to me as all he can do is talk about guns all the time. You guys lap up his stories and laugh with him about how heroic he is. Like he's some fucking hero. This time he got to be on the correct end of a gun and found out, hey it fucking hurts to be shot. Probably like being beaten with baseball bats. But John is a tough guy right? He's been in the slammer before, so going to jail again shouldn't faze him. No respect for authority. He's been deported before so one more won't make any difference to him if that's the end result.

But good for you guys who want to stick by him I have no issue with that. I do take issue when an expat gets himself into trouble, other plonkers claim its because the cops are racist, or he was "targeted" as a foreigner. He was stopped for being suspect of riding DUI and no other reason. Your mate Jimip saying it's not true cause there is no video evidence again. You have those saying that John didn't hurt anyone on his chase by the police. Is that supposed to mitigate what he did? He could have killed someone or seriously injured any number of people. That's the point of having thugs like him off the street in the first place. Drunkards that don't give a shit about others.

Good thing is when I saw the news about John being shot by the police, I didn't feel a thing. Not a thing. I laughed when I saw the apple daily news and recognized who he was. Why am I not surprised when people like John fuck up. Because they are fuck ups to begin with. They can't see themselves for who they really are until too late. Its takes something like this to maybe make John wake up from his own hubris. john is a regular drunk rider, just another punk who thinks he is above the law.
