All these expats running around showing off their grand lifestyles so we can all have assumptions about how much money they have.

Kidnapping? I prefer the term surprise adoption.

Weird.

You should get out more. Abduction attempts have been made. Just because they were not shown on TV, doesn't meant they did not happen. Whether kidnapping or something far more sinister were the motives, one can only speculate.

One final word of advice: choose your words on the Internet carefully. You may have noticed that you are unable to delete or edit your posts. Your words define you.

On the Internet you are no more and no less than what you write.

It's not just the boys in one's daughter's high school you have to worry about - it's sick, twisted individuals who think nothing of scarring forever the lives of young boys and girls.

But hey, how about those toothbrush germs!

Yeah you mean likes the ones you chase away from your kids? What a terrible way to treat someone who took a pic of your kids and you behaved like this below... How do you know the guy wasn't a father and spotted a nice swimsuit he wanted to get for his own kids?

Glad it works for you then, but FYI there's one problem - they haven't done anything wrong. They might delete them out of politeness, but they are well within their rights to take the photos in the first place. As long as they aren't using them for advertising, there's nothing that says they can't take pictures of you. They could even use them to illustrate a magazine story or news article. If/when you do come across somebody who refuses to delete them, be aware that the law is one their side.

Just because they haven't broken the law, doesn't mean they haven't done anything wrong. A couple of weeks ago at the beach, I was bodyboarding in the surf, and my (almost four year old) daughter was playing in the sand. There weren't many people there at all, and she has a yellow-and-black striped "bumblebee" swimsuit, so it's always easy for me to keep an eye on her. At one point I noticed a guy who was with his surfing buddies kind of walk away from his group and start taking pictures of Trudi with his camera. I wasn't getting any weird vibes from him at all, he looked like a guy who was taking a "human interest" shot of a cute girl in a bumblebee bathing suit playing in the sand. Still, I got out of the water and started walking towards him. He started walking away, but I quickly caught up with him. I was nice about it. I told him that he looked like a nice guy, and I'm sure that he meant no harm, but it's not a good idea to take pictures of little girls in their swimsuits unless mom and dad say it's ok. He looked horrified, and I told him that I'm sure he wasn't one of those "strange uncles", but I'd appreciate it if he deleted the pictures. He told me he was doing so and that I could check his camera, and I said, no, that wasn't necessary. I also told him that someday, when he was a father himself, he'd understand better. Like I said, he wasn't giving off any strange vibes, but it's an invasion of privacy. If some strange foreign guy started taking pictures of my daughter on the beach, I'd do exactly the same thing. I don't care if it's legal, it's rude, and that makes it wrong.

But Tony you posted pictures of others peoples kids all over the internet. I'd be more worried about the fact that there are so many alleged pedo's living in your community area. You also post pictures of your own kids in blogs, websites, and all over the internet. How do you know that all those people on your FB account aren't ones you should suspect of being pedo's? After all most pedo's attack kids of close family and friends, not strangers all the time.

The strange foreign guy taking photos of people is you Tony.
Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave!

I think Maoman should put on an ice cream swirl picture and cover up all those peoples faces whose pictures he posted without permission.

After all Tony claims its rude and its wrong to take photo's of others.

Yes and this site has compiled many of your posts from your other sites and blogs. We just don't understand why you are so unhappy about that.

You posted information that identified the individual. At any rate, that's irrelevant. We protect the privacy of all of our members from "outing" like this. If you wish to pursue your concerns, do so in a manner that does not publically identify the person whith whom you have a dispute, especially seeing as this dispute has nothing to do with his business. Forumosa is not a venue for a personal shitfight. Thanks for your understanding and compliance.

If I find out who has outed my real identity I am going to be quite mad. Whoever it is had better watch out, doing things like this can lead you to all sorts of trouble. Big trouble.

We all know who outed you. But if I was to say who I would be called a liar or worse. I know a lot about telling lies.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying that lying is good or bad, just that it is a norm, especially in the instance described here. If the chief went ahead and made the necessary changes to his account in order to comply with his own moral code, I would have huge respect.

You can name names. You just can't say Poster X is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. (Because that's my name too  )
Also, some posters are very open about who they are, especially if it's first names. When in doubt, refer to them by their usernames. Thanks,

Really Kevin? Are you going to phone up and sue the person who outed you to all and sundry.

There's this guy in Taipei, has all sorts of blogs & websites. He's happy as ever to tell someone who somebody else is in real life. You should know that by now he's one of your good friends isn't he? Let me quote what he has written about outing people. You have been in the mainstream Kevin.

maoman » 01 Apr 2010, 22:58 I guess if someone is in the mainstream media already, they're fair game for discussion. In all seriousness, though, it is good for everyone to be reminded of the power of their words. What happens in the real world has echoes, and increasingly the converse is also true.
