One restaurant owner told me, having a VIP card for Taiwanease is like having to give out food stamps to itinerant expats. Whatever happened that when you went to really good restaurants you tipped for good food and service?

I'd like to take this opportunity to plug our own web shite's VIP card: The MORE ON card. Yes, with the MORE ON negative discount card, you get an incredible 15% MORE ON. That's right, MORONosans can enjoy a 15% surcharge just for being who they are.

Restaurateurs and their hardworking staff sure like it when cheapskate "itinerant expats" come looking for discounts. Here's one restaurant's reaction to being presented a discount card for 2 pieces of toast and 10 free refills of coffee:

Be a true MORONosan. Get your MORE ON card today!

And really, 11-50 employees for Taiwanease. What exactly is the criteria being used to define an "employee" here?
Rather dubious and far-fetched...LOL!

Well, I suppose the site would have that many employees if admin included his spouse, kids, dog, goldfish, imaginary friend and jimipresley as employees. Yup, claiming a message board that doesn't make a dime has dozens of paid employees is stretching things a little, stretching it like... Hmmm... I can't think of a good simile here. So, I'll give you multiple choices. Taiwanease admin stretches the truth like (choose all that apply):
Electrical power lines
Budgets
bra straps
pantyhose
imaginations
days
elastic orchestras (rubber bands)
g-strings
hoses
minds
noses
stretch-pants
thoughts
uvulae
veins
wet noodles

But anonymity also allows for trolls, and for fifteen years I've seen firsthand the unhappiness that trolls can cause others. I'm suggesting a little accountability for one's own posts.

Again true. But most trolls were known to you - that is who they are. Anonymous trolls were easy to get rid off. The known ones were harder coz you kept giving them chances. That is your fault, those people had shown you who they are multiple times and YOU chose not to believe their true nature or kept hoping they'll change. So this point is moot. Coz known and unknown people can troll.

Yes so nice that Moaman allowed his friends to abuse and troll others. But that's Tony for you, he thinks his friends are great people. Yet for years people have been complaining about Tony and his friends who abuse and troll for the fun of it.

Holy crap. I just realized that Sandman is suspended? This is a serious argument in favor of a Hall of Shame. Sandman has been heaping scornful, vulgar abuse on posters ever since I came to Forumosa, but NOW he has violated a rule and is suspended? How are we to know where the line is? Suspensions and bannings could serve as a guide for the rest of us to understand what the mods will allow and what they won't. The way it is now, they only provide fodder for idle PM gossip.

I'm actually surprised that Maoman finally put his foot down. It reflects poorly on administration when some posters seem immunized to being suspended. There has been many, MANY occasions where sandman should have gotten time off over the years and Maoman always lets him get away with it. That's, of course, if you look at what other posters get suspended for.

This said, this place would not be the same without the old fart injecting the boards with his vulgar, but often thoughtful, witty and informative tenure.

So I had a nice evening last night with various friends, at four different watering holes. Sometime around eleven we stopped by Beer and Cheese on Jianguo and had a distasteful conversation inflicted on us by some drunken lout who works at AIT. This guy was racist, misogynist, and totally ignorant of Taiwan's history, culture, everything. My bullshit-meter went off when he started proclaiming his analysis of Taiwan's sunflower protests was the straight truth, yet he didn't know who Wang Jinping was, nor did he know recognize the names Chen Weiting and Lin Feifan. The bullshit was bad enough but when he started ogling teenage girls just walking by, in the same breath making lewd comments about them and insulting his wife who was waiting for him at home, well that's when my upper lip started to curl in disgust. I mean this guy had just met us, and he's telling us this stuff? Ick. When he finally staggered off to a taxi, there was a collective sigh of relief. If that guy is at all typical of AIT staff, it's a pretty sad reflection on the caliber of people they're recruiting

Well Tony I guess you have never done that in your life eh? So pure of heart is Tony. Hey Tony how would you know those girls were teenagers if you weren't ogling yourself?

Lets find out shall we?

Our culture (maybe all cultures) place a high premium on physical appearance. Most people aren't beautiful - most of us - by definition - are average. If you, like most of us, happen to be average and want to attract a mate, a spouse, a lover or a friend, you'd better develop a quality that's sought after in the "marketplace". Money's a always a good one!

I'm sure that these men (myself included) only get that "look" when a beautiful woman, or a woman with beautiful features walks by. My eyes remain undistracted.
But then a young lass in a miniskirt will flounce by, showing shapely legs, a slender waist and a perky bosom.
Have I gone "local"?
Or am I just admiring a good-looking woman?

I guess Tony likes young nubile teenagers then.

Nubile means "ready for marriage". And we need more hostess bars. But my wife won't let me go out and do the necessary fieldwork.

Well Maoman the legal age in many countries for marriage is 16 and even in some 14.

Are you saying you'd be happy to have sex with such young nubiles?

Actually, if the girls are nubile, why not? (Nubile means of a marriageable age or condition 8-) )
