I think it's good to make a distinction here between KTV girls, who are girls who work as waitresses in KTVs like Cashbox; and hostesses in jiudian, who sit in the room with you, singing songs, pouring drinks, etc. or the teenage girls at Alleycats.

Many years ago I had a steamy relationship with a hostess. She was looking for something different from her usual clients/boyfriends, and I guess I was it. Usually her "boyfriends" had plenty of cash, took her on trips, paid her rent, bought her expensive gifts, etc. She was tired of that and came on to me strong. I naturally tried to keep things on a friendship level, but resistance was futile - I succumbed to her charms.

Our culture (maybe all cultures) place a high premium on physical appearance. Most people aren't beautiful - most of us - by definition - are average. If you, like most of us, happen to be average and want to attract a mate, a spouse, a lover or a friend, you'd better develop a quality that's sought after in the "marketplace". Money's a always a good one!

I'm sure that these men (myself included) only get that "look" when a beautiful woman, or a woman with beautiful features walks by. My eyes remain undistracted.

But then a young lass in a miniskirt will flounce by, showing shapely legs, a slender waist and a perky bosom.

I was dismayed to recently discover that Forumosa admin has taken at least one of MY posts and reassigned authorship to the poster "Adflob Sales" (originally known as Stewart Pendous), also known as Toe Save.

I was a little confused when I saw the post, because I thought it looked kind of familiar to me. Then I saw that the post was written THREE AND A HALF YEARS before the Stewart Pendous/AdFlob account was even created: :ponder:

Well, I took a ride on the Wayback Machine and searched the post in question. Now I realized why I was confused: the reason it looked so familiar to me was because EYE had written the original post. Adflob Sales' counterfeit post was exactly the same in content, down to the same year, month, and day as my original post; even the same time, 2:22 pm:

This isn't the first time that someone has taken liberties with my account. Last year someone erased the record of all my recommended posts, and of the posts that I had recommended to others. When I asked for an explanation, I got a glib reply blaming the North Koreans, homework-eating dogs, etc. The recommended posts were restored to my account, but I never did find out why I was the only one affected by that "glitch".

It's worth pointing out that the issue I raise today is more serious. This is not content that's mysteriously gone missing. This is content, written by me and now attributed to Forumosa's Director of Business Development.
This raises some significant questions:
1. Who facilitated the appropriation of my posts? This is not something that a mere moderator can do, and anyway, it is my impression that Stewart Pendous/Adflob Sales is not and has never been a moderator.
2. How many of my other posts have been stolen from me?
3. How many posts have been stolen from other people?
4. Have any posts written by others been attributed to me? Have any posts written by Toe Save been attributed to me? That would be truly distressing!

I'm posting my concerns here on Taiwanease because I think the situation is serious enough that it warrants informing other people, and also because in light of the response to last year's shenanigans, I'm not optimistic that I'll be taken seriously this time around either. I'm reluctant to post content when it can so easily be stolen by the very people running the site and attributed to someone on their own team. But just in case anyone from forumosa.com sees this, what I'd like, is for the above four questions to be answered, apologies given, by both the person who facilitated the theft of my post as well as the person who assumed ownership of my post, and for the post in question (and any others like it) to be restored to their original authorship. I'm not holding my breath, however.

This is all very disheartening. On the Internet, whether at Taiwanease, TaiwanHo, Forumosa, or Facebook, we are the sum of our words. Don't steal my words from me, please.

Poor Tony, not only isn't he wanted on that other site anymore, he complains when they have the banner adverts to contact the head of adflop sales.

Now he bitches about some 6 year old post being edited, which is the right of the site, clearly stated in the site's sign up policy.

Tony should know that he was the site admin.

Being such a good friend at the forumosa site owner why don't you just contact him and ask for help instead of posting in your whinge bucket style yet again.

And I once retaliated at Mr. Pendous when he was being given the red carpet here and being treated like fine china, because he had been bastardly to me on Sandy's fb page. I remember Anth. you telling me 'so?? What has that got to do with Tease.' Similarly how have his transgressions on the flob got anything to do with here? Unless you say 'it's my site and I can do what I want with it'.

It was brought to my attention that we, the admins of Forumosa, made a mistake. Fair enough - I asked around if anyone recalled changing the author of the post in question, none of us were certain. It did not seem characteristic of us to do that and we had to wonder why anyone would bother. Our greatest concern was whether there might be a security breach - a hack.

Most likely, because that post happens to be the landing page for Dr Mark's banner campaign on Forumosa, I can imagine someone pointing out how odd it would be for it to not only be authored by Maoman, but that his signature would show links to Taiwanease.com - I can further imagine thinking, "yeah, that's odd - we should change it" and not even remember that we could switch off signatures on a per post basis.

Is this what happened? I honestly do not know. I don't recall. But it's possible. I do recognize that feelings are hurt, and I am sorry for that. I am also sorry that Toe Save has had to take the brunt of this, and that should not be the case. Adflob Sales never had the ability to change author names.

I have now changed the post author back to Maoman (and switched off his signature ) - looking back, that's probably what should have happened in the first place. We will talk to Dr Mark about setting up another landing page for his banner campaign. I hope this clarifies what might have happened. And that this is not a security issue - no North Koreans this time, just poor judgement.
