You hit the nail on the head with the "preferential treatments" comment. It's a fact explainable by the fact that the perpetrator in the case you reference is personally acquainted with many of the inner circle on Forumosa/Taiwanease. They formed a front to protect him/ prevent condemnation of his actions, even resorting to posting outright lies to confuse the truth in the case (as you can see reproduced in these pages). Most have since gone silent, but some are still at it, as you can see in the more recent posts.
