So answer my question: Why is a community announcement being rained on? We all know who maoman is. He's not some arbitrary spammer. When all is said and done, he's actually quite a decent bloke.

How is this any kind of vendetta, fucking vehement or otherwise? Dozens of organizations are treated the same way when they post self-promotional materials that surpass the compass of an event post and are not placed in the Events forum. If they do it more than once (actually more than several times, in practice; I think I can say that we try to give the benefit of the doubt), most of them are banned. It doesn't matter if they are nice people, total wankers, or anything in between. It's about the post, the content, and the location. You know, the rules?

It's really simple. You have an event, you post it in the Events forum. Short, sweet and to the point. Time, place, nature, contact details.

You have an organization, product or service: you get one thread in the most closely related forum, and people have the right to comment and interact with you and each other on that thread.

You place something in Temp that doesn't fit either one of those descriptions, you takes your chances. We have no way of knowing this didn't start out as a hoax, so I was assuming that it had been moved there. But even if it had -- I totally see why it would have been, and would have moved it myself had I found it in another forum.

So how does this post differ from others that "serve the community"? A current event or announcement about something that may be of interest to our community is scolded because it comes from maoman, who created and maintained forumosa, is persona non grata?

I find your lack of reading comprehension to be a bit tiring and juvenile.

To recap (though I'm sure I don't know why I'm bothering):
Events go in the Events forum, and are focused on providing specific information.
Otherwise, one thread per organization. This isn't that thread.
Anything outside the above may well garner comments. That's the risk you take when you choose to try to post outside the rules. The other option, of course, is to use the profits from a for-profit endeavor to take out advertising.

I don't care if the poster was maoman, my mother, or the man in the moon. It's the post, not the poster.

And, just FYI, maoman didn't create taiwanosa. I realize you didn't turn up until very late 2004, so probably you aren't exactly aware of that, but it was around a long time before that.

Jimi are you being deliberately obtuse? This is a rival site promoting itself on not just its direct competitor, but the site that it left to take on as a competitor. OK I take Anthony's point that he is promoting services not offered by the flob but still its not surprising some have seen it as taking a bit of a liberty.

Why does Tony bother posting here??? I think he should stop. He is met with vindictiveness/bitterness/ mod rules whatever each time he posts and he keeps coming back. Why? know Anthony is a pretty generous type and wouldn't AT ALL stop other forum admins from posting on the Tease, but it doesn't everyone is as generous or has to be. Plus, admin here is quiet about the whole issue and has always let the mods criticize the Tease. As Anthony's mod in both forums we were always stopped from criticizing or meddling in other forums. Always. There is no way I can post 'Gus can't control his friends on the flob' on TEASE and get away with it. IT WILL BE FLAMED.

But that's him. If he is not afforded the courtesy and the good faith he affords others, he really should desist coming here and not look back. Unless admin, really come out and welcome Tony. to post again and /or tell their mods to shut-up. Anthony should refrain from these train wreck threads and accept he is a PNG.

After a day of thinking about this, I agree with placing this post on this site. A good business person knows where he/she can get the most bang for his/her buck and if you can share your product information for free and get the traffic that Taiwanosa gets from links to adult sex sites, then why not? To get this kind of traffic, one would have to buy a very expensive ad from The Taipei Times. There are no other sites on Taiwanosa's radar that can claim anywhere near the traffic we enjoy. Very shrewd indeed. I only wonder why the OP placed it in Moronosa? Did the OP think his post was beyond the pale and sought to soften the blow back by placing it herein? Strange days indeed. We are a very friendly site for the most part. And getting friendlier by the day.

Yes, it all seems very petty to me and there are clearly hurt feelings on both sides.

I guess the question is: Maoman, would you welcome it if the Moronosa ownership placed an identical post on his site promoting itself ? If the answer is yes, then cool, and I hope that you would encourage them to do so.

And a general comment in relation to what Iron Oxide lady said. I do feel that recently moronsa has become a much more hospitable and less cliquey forum. This may be due to the fact that certain posters no longer frequent these pages to such a degree, or the mods have changed, or it may not be. But there certainly seems to be a more welcoming vibe to the forum with less tolerance for abusive remarks. Unfortunately it also seems that every other new member is a troll- but that's all a bit of fun if you know how to take it.

It's hardly a dirty little secret. When I left Taiwanosa, I invited all the moderators that had been moderating on Taiwanosa to join. I felt it was only fair, since in most cases, I was the one who had asked them to become moderators to begin with. After a year, I felt that neither site was being particularly well-served by having people moderate both forums at the same time, so I asked the moderators to remain at whatever site they felt most comfortable on. Most moderators decided to stick with forumease, some stayed at Taiwanosa, including some good friends, which was fine. This wasn't about me, or about my friendship with anyone at Taiwanosa, it just seemed like it was the right thing to do. I'm pretty sure that Tempo Loss and Goose Step would agree with me now, although I can't say for sure.

Like I said, I'm not interested in returning your negativity. I'm glad you're happy at forumosa, really. I do my best to be happy wherever I am, and wherever I post. You're welcome to post within the rules at forumease.com, and I've always been lead to believe that others are welcome to do the same at moronosa. Live and let live, eh?

I knew, as did all people on the site here know, but I think we all hoped one of the mods, or better yourself would explain. Alas no one did. hence the impression it was a dirty little secret.

Basically you told the mods they were not allowed to mod here and there at the same time and they must choose. I can't recall Tempo Loss having an opinion one way or the other, Goose Egg, I'm fairly certain you misrepresent his position as I distinctly recall him mentioning he couldn't give a flying fuck if mods chose to mod both here or there. You made them choose between sites.

There are a few threads here, and of course not surprising the ones discussing the mods leaving might have escaped your notice, understandably as you have a new forum to run, but realize, quite a few were asking questions, and no one stood up to answer.

None of the mods you ordered to leave were happy about that command, you know that, there was quite the discussion in the moderators forum. The question also was hanging in the regular forums, so I thank you for clearing up that question too.
