Thanks for you cooperations.
Is it going to be about smurfs and trolls again? After all what is a troll and who is just a newbie or regular poster. On this forum many of the regular posters have a go at the newbies then they wonder why they stop posting. On the off-chance you have trouble spotting a pattern in that list, let me offer this helpful rule, a definition for troll circa 2012/13.
Any time you don't like something someone else is saying, or even if you do like what he's saying but think he might be saying it the wrong way, there's a very good chance you're dealing with a troll. So there we have it. Most of the replies on the threads are from trolls.
Or let me suggest something somewhat unconventional, maybe even downright unthinkable for you lot. What if all these people aren't trolls? What if they're just, you know, disagreeable or stupid or merely wrong, or actually right? What if, despite holding opinions that you don't like, and despite expressing those opinions in a manner that seems a tad impolite to you, they came by their views honestly?
It is said you should not make any untoward comments about English teachers at large on taiwanosa as it is considered trolling. Is it because they are very sensitive creatures these English teachers from abroad? However, you can call Taiwanese All lazy tax cheating corrupt incompetent racists and thats fine, nobody is called a troll for doing that. Seriously ... we're letting taiwanosa lead the discussion about online freedom of speech, smurfs and trolls in this country? More startling are the calls from these aggrieved elites that "trolls should be bought to account!" or "the site rules must be changed!" to protect their featherbed sensibilities. I question the absurdity of people who are transmitting their opinions to maybe 50 or 100 people, wailing about a miniscule number of "nobodies" and "losers" getting a shot in with their own thoughts and opinions. To have mods on taiwanosa adjudicate on what is "offensive or trolling" strikes me as ridiculous as asking Zhanghwa Telecom to disconnect people because they say shitty things over the phone.
